Cleanup nears completion following 'non-hazardous' train derailment near Horseshoe Curve

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A train derailed near Altoona Monday night causing delays and cancellations for Tuesday. Officials say a train traveling from New Jersey to Chicago, Illinois, derailed five cars right near the Horseshoe Curve railway. The derailed Norfolk Southern train was traveling westbound through the Altoona area. All five of the derailed cars were flatbed and were carrying 28 empty shipping trailers so, there were no concerns when it came to hazardous material. Read More...

Reporter's mic shoved away when asking Florida mayor about homelessness crisis

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — A news reporter that tried asking a Florida mayor about the homeless problem had his microphone shoved away and told to "back off." The reporter, who works for WPEC, questioned Mayor Keith James about the growing homeless problem in downtown West Palm Beach. Shoppers, merchants and people who work in the area have told WPEC over and over the situation is out of control. Homeless panhandlers constantly badger people for money, snatch food off plates on sidewalk tables, hover over customers at ATMs and otherwise disrupt day to day life downtown. Read More...

State College Area Highschool students share offensive photo, prompting school response and parent c

According to the Centre Daily Times, the photo was circulated on Snapchat on June 14th, depicting anti-Semitic symbols, and racial, and homophobic slurs on top of a Crumbl cookie box. The alleged students who sent in are State College Area High School rising senior, and one incoming Penn State Freshman. In response to the incident the School’s administration sent out an email to parents condemning the incident and offering counseling services to students. Read More...
