North Carolina's first medical cannabis dispensary opens for business

QUALLA BOUNDARY, N.C. (WLOS) — Saturday marked a historic day for North Carolina as the first medical cannabis dispensary held its grand opening in Cherokee. A ribbon cutting was held at 9:30 a.m. outside The Great Smoky Cannabis Dispensary in the Qualla Boundary. People all across the mountains were lined up outside, eagerly waiting to purchase the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians' packaged cannabis. PA CareerLink helps job-seekers virtually, hopes to reopen facilities "soon"

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) – Gwen Fisher, Pennsylvania CareerLink’s site administrator for Bedford and Blair Counties said prior to the pandemic many counties in the commonwealth were enjoying some of the lowest unemployment numbers in decades. “We had historically low unemployment rates and we headed into the spring around 5% and 6% for both Blair and Bedford County.” Fisher said unemployment numbers skyrocketed when businesses started closing due to the Coronavirus. Pennsylvania man dies after being trampled by horse at county fair

MEADVILLE, Pa. — A man thrown from a wagon and trampled by a horse at a Pennsylvania county fair and has died. The Crawford County coroner's office says 64-year-old Saegertown resident Charles Burns was injured in the accident Wednesday at the Crawford County Fairgrounds and was pronounced dead 15 minutes later at a hospital. Coroner Scott Schell says Burns was in a wagon that was making a turn when he was ejected and landed underneath the horse. Read More...
