Catholic Priest suspended amid sexual abuse allegations

By: Lauren Hensley ALTOONA, Pa.-- Altoona-Johnstown Diocese confirms a Somerset County priest, Martin Cingle, has been suspended as they investigate allegations concerning sex abuse of a minor dating back to 2002. According to the Diocese, Cingle has been an ordained priest since 1973. He has served at about a dozen parishes throughout central Pennsylvania. Most recently father Cingle served as pastor at All Saints Parish in Boswell and Saint Anne Parish in Davidsville. Read More...

Diocese cancels daily Masses, confessions at St. John Gualbert Cathedral due to COVID-19

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown announced that daily Masses and Confessions at the St. John Gualbert Cathedral have been cancelled through Feb. 12 due to COVID-19 concerns. Both Sunday morning masses will still be held, however, and communion will still be distributed in the parking lot Sunday, at 12:30 p.m. Church officials will also open the cathedral for private prayer from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mixed reactions and high emotions as 'Oppenheimer' finally premieres in Japan

TOKYO (AP) — “Oppenheimer” finally premiered Friday in the nation where two cities were obliterated 79 years ago by the nuclear weapons invented by the American scientist who was thesubject of the Oscar-winning film. Japanese filmgoers' reactions understandably were mixed and highly emotional. Toshiyuki Mimaki, who survived the bombing of Hiroshima when he was 3, said he has been fascinated by the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, often called “the father of the atomic bomb” for leading the Manhattan Project. Read More...
