State withdraws charges against suspended DuBois city manager; feds now prosecuting

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Suspended DuBois city manager Herm Suplizio appeared in court Tuesday, nearly two weeks after he was indicted by federal authorities on charges of theft and fraud. During the hearing, the state attorney general's office withdrew its charges against Suplizio, allowing the case to be solely prosecuted by the federal government. Earlier this month, Suplizio and a fellow city employee were federally indicted following an investigation into allegations that the two conspired to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in city funds. Williamsburg High School teacher accused of having sex with a student

WILLIAMSBURG - A teacher at Williamsburg High School has been charged by state police with having sexual intercourse with a student. According to police, Nikki Varney, 44, has been charged with institutional sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with minors. Police said their investigation began after the school reported to police that Varney was in a sexual relationship with a male student. The investigation led officers to discover that the sexual encounter between Varney and the student took place over the summer. Read More...
